Writer's Block: How To Cover a Wedding Story

For those who write for a living, trying to find the right words to convey a message to your audience can present some challenges. This is particularly true when it comes to telling stories about personal moments like weddings. Capturing the very essence of the celebration to give your readers a true understanding of the occasion requires great skill.

Talk to the Couple

Your wedding story won’t be much without some specific details and opinions from the couple themselves. If you have the means to do so, start by having an in-depth conversation with the couple. Find out more about their personalities. 

Where did they meet? How did they fall in love? What was the engagement like? What did they like or dislike about the wedding planning process? What were some special moments? What advice might they have for other couples getting married?

Write From Personal Experience

Talk about how you felt as the bride or groom to be during the planning process, before, during, and after the wedding was over. Discuss how it felt as a guest. What things stood out most? Be Very Descriptive

The weather,  mood of the audience, and even the taste and smell of the foods? This provides readers with the opportunity to really visualize themselves being there and being in the moment with you.

Take advice from other writers and blogs, identify your audience, connect with real-life stories or opinions, and be as descriptive as possible.
